Just when you thought celebrated pop diva, Mariah Carey couldn’t up her insured body ante any more, along comes another world tour/story which changes everything we were led to believe was true before.
Apparently the global music icon is being all forward-thinking and proactive as she gets her exhaustive ‘Sweet, Sweet Fantasy’ world tour underway by issuing her lackeys notice that she wants to bump up her existing insurance policy; which even by Carey’s standards was pretty comprehensive prior to her latest revisions. Evidently concerned she might topple from her towering collection of stage heels or hitting one too many high notes when regaling the audience with her back catalogue of chart smashes, Carey has now hiked up the dedicated voice and leg aspect of her policy to the sum of £49 million.
The much-loved diva who actually invented the word back in the 90s is seemingly out-diva’ing her supermodel peers of her day (yes, Naomi Campbell, we’re looking at you girlfriend!) by ‘allegedly’ ensuring that her perfect pins and pristine vocal chords are safeguarded from the outset.
In the midst of performing at venues across Eastern Europe as we write, www.mirror.co.uk has quoted reliable sources from authoritative US celebrity news website, TMZ as saying that Carey is aware of how things could quickly go wrong, especially during the latter stages of her current tour which has already had extra shows added due to demand. According to TMZ the cover breakdown will see her vocal chords covered for in the region of £25 million, whilst her equally trademark legs will be insured to the same fiscal tune.
It’s not altogether unheard of for Carey to make what some people might call extreme demands while she’s on tour, and it’s certainly not unusual for the ‘Dreamlover’ hit-maker to ultimately get her own way on an array of matters.
Rumour has it that she has a minimum of 11 bodyguards situated around her table whenever she eats out so as to avoid other diners catching a glimpse of her consuming her dishes, and once requested that a £50k antique table be flown from New York to London with the express purpose of being used when she signed fan’s autographs, according to The Mirror’s most recent piece.
Other alleged demands befitting of a diva of the standing of Carey include having 20 humidifiers located in her bedroom so as to recreate ‘rainforest conditions’.
